How to Tell If You've Purchased Authentic Virgin Hair

Hey dolls! After I made my video on the differences between virgin, remy and 100% human hair (click here to watch that video), I started to receive a lot of questions about virgin and remy hair. The hair industry is not a tightly regulated industry, so it is very easy for sellers to mark the hair as virgin, remy or 100% human when they really aren't. You have to be careful when purchasing from all these different websites or other locations. I know how expensive quality hair can be and I do not want any of you to blow money thinking you're getting something authentic when you're not. To help you out, below I've posted 6 tips from IndiqueHair.com on how to tell if you've purchased authentic virgin hair.

1. There must be split ends. If the hair does not have split ends, this means the hair has been acid-washed and the cuticles have been stripped.

2. You can feel the cuticles. Hold a strand of hair near the top between your thumb and index finger, and slide your fingers down the entire length of the hair. The hair should feel smooth. If you reverse the motion and slide your fingers up the strand, the hair should have ridges—these are the cuticles. If the hair is smooth both ways, the cuticles were stripped by an acid wash and you’ve purchased fake virgin hair.

3. The ends of the hair will generally be lighter than the roots. This is more prominent in Indian Remy virgin hair because many women work outside in India. This won’t be as common in hair from Southeast Asia and China, where the sun is not as strong.

4. The moustache/beard at the weft is short. The moustache/beard is the hair that has been stitched to the track and reversed so the hair does not shed. In virgin hair, the moustache/beard must be very short to avoid tangling. If the moustache or beard is long, the cuticles will catch on the long flowing hair.

5. The hair is not coated with silicone. If the hair has a shiny residue on it, then it is silicone-coated Non-Remy hair. Remy virgin hair doesn’t have this coating.

6. The hair does not smell like corn chips. Authentic virgin hair will not contain chemical residue, and it hasn’t been overly processed.

I hope this helped you all out. A big thanks to Indique Hair for posting these tips on their website! Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel here if you haven't. Until next time...XO!

City Curl Mascara by New York Color (NYC)

As much as I love these eyes of mine,  I hardly ever wear any makeup on them. Mostly because I'm scared I'm going to stab myself in the eye! Lol. I decided to do a wee bit more when I go out, so I decided to pick up a tube of mascara since I refused to put on fake lashes. This is a reasonably priced mascara if you're looking to try something new. Here's my review on it below. I hope you were able to see the differences in the before and after shots!

Well, it was worth a shot! Let me know what your fave mascara is. If you haven't already subscribed to my YouTube channel, you can do so by clicking here. Until next time....Xo!

My DIY Aaliyah Wig Made with Runway Hair

If you know me then you know I loved Aaliyah and her style. The classic long layers with a side bang has always been one of my absolute favorite hairstyles. Today I decided to make a new wig in honor of my girl Aaliyah, but with a little blonde in the mix. I used an F1B/27 hair color blend to pull this off. This hair was super affordable at a local beauty supply store. I've never heard of this hair, but it worked for what I wanted it for. I'm not into spending a lot of money on my DIY projects. I tend to only shell out a lot of money for hair if I'm getting a professional sew-in that'll have in for a couple of months. Check out my review on the Runway Hair by Afro Beauty below, as well as the final results of my wig.

Going Ombre with Milky Way! I dropped a BLONDE on you! (Que Fourbulous)

I wanted try out something blonde, but not completely. I decided that an ombre look may work best, going from dark to light. I tried out the Milky Way Que Fourbulous pack. Now this pack actually goes from light to dark, so I had to make some alterations to the hair so that I could go from dark to light like I wanted. I think it's a really pretty color blend and I love the way the auburn plays off the blonde. Next time I will go for a straight textured hair in a lighter color. Here's my review below which also includes the un-packaging of the hair.

Hope you all enjoyed; until next time...Xo!

AWESOME Virtual Makeover App!

Okay, so I've secretly always wanted to know what I'd look like as a blonde. Now, I dare not make such a drastic decision and then hate it. I've tried several virtual makeovers before, but I was not impressed. Recently while I was watching an episode of The Real (daytime talk show), they featured an app called Virtual Makeover. The app is by Modiface and I must I was impressed. It has a beautiful interface and you can do so much. You can add mascara, eye shadow, lipstick, try out celebrity hairstyles, change your hair color and more! I made a video tutorial showing you how to get the best results if you decide to try it. Check out the video below and let me know what you think.

So what'd you think? Is blonde the move lol?
